Australian  blanket wash
for new News Ltd plants

News Ltd Chooses AIM 62C

AIM CHEMICALS thanks News Ltd for choosing them to be the supplier of the Aim 62C Newspaper Safety Blanket Wash for all of their new plants.

Aim Chemicals, who are proudly a wholly owned and national Australian company, were the innovators of the 62C Newspaper Safety Blanket Wash which was developed five years ago in Brisbane, and 'fine-tuned' with the assistance of printers at the Courier Mail and Mirror Sun newspapers in Queensland. 62C has been successfully used at the Adelaide Advertiser continuously for nearly 3 years with excellent results being reported.

MAN Roland Specifications

AIM 62C surpasses all of the rigorous MAN Roland specifications which demand: anti-corrosion additives; corrosion tests; swell tests on printing blankets and rollers, as well as exhibiting a low aromatic solvent content.

It was proven as part of this specification that AIM 62C contains no re-cycled solvents, no chlorinated hydrocarbons and no acids.

Known throughout the industry as ' the blanket wash specialists' Aim Chemicals are committed to developing safer alternatives for all facets of the printing industry. It was this level of commitment that resulted in the first blanket and roller wash of its type being specifically developed for the Australian newspaper industry.

Worksafe Approved

AIM 62C conforms to the latest Worksafe Guidelines as well as exhibiting the following major benefits:

• Non flammable

• Low toxicity

• Unmatched cleaning ability

• Environmentally safe

• May be shipped and stored in bulk

• Medium speed evaporation

• Pleasant low odour

Environmental Alternatives

AIM have many safer alternatives and more environmentally acceptable solutions. These include: Safety Blanket & Roller Washes, low V.0.C. & 'Neutral' Fountain solutions.

Speciality equipment also includes: in Plant Recycling Units, Chiller/Mixers, Reverse Osmosis Water Units.

It is worthwhile considering just what benefits our safety products offer over some of the more hazardous chemicals currently on the market.

AIM means safer alternatives.

American technology exchange

Aim Chemicals recently secured a licensing agreement from Prisco who are the largest printing chemical manufacturer in America. Prisco specialise in Web-Press chemistry, both heat-set and cold-set and are taking the world by storm with their 'Neutral' range of Fountain Solutions.

Safety products also include Isopropyl alcohol replacement fluids and alcohol-free fountain solutions. This agreement assures free exchange of the latest new technology and breakthroughs as they are developed.

re-usable Bulky Boxes at the News Limited Mile End plant.

Many facets of the AIM 62C make it attractive from an environmental viewpoint.
The product exhibits an extremely low VOC rating (Volatile Organic Compound), and uses only bio-degradable compounds. Another major attribute is the availability of the product in 1000 litre bulk containers, thereby avoiding the inconvenience of handling and storing multiple 200 litre drums.

To whom it may concern,

This letter serves as a reference for the AIM ‘62C’ Safety Blanket Wash, which has been in general use throughout our plant for nearly five years.

The AIM 62C has been consistently used on our rollers, blankets, sideframes and as a general press wash for this entire period of time without any problems.

I believe the product to be the best available on the market after having trialled most of the Blanket and Roller Washes commercially available.

62C complies with the stringent worksafe Health & Safety Guidelines currently in force, and assists our plant in combating dermatitis.

Press maintenance periods allow us to assess many facets of our “Harris N-845” and we confirm that there is no evidence of corrosion of any type on the press whether it be bearers, cylinders, blanket bars Etc.

I recommend 62C to any plant as a high performance Safety Blanket and Roller Wash.

Mr. Chris Barton

Dear Mr. Barton

Today we received the written confirmation that the new European regulations does only require a minimum flash point of 55 degrees centigrade.

So we can in general approve the use of your solvent AIM62 C must however insist, that all the other safety requirements as well as the material compatibility is will remain as they have been in the past and agreed with the press suppliers and end customers. Another important factor is that your solvent has to be water mixable otherwise the function of our washing system would be restricted.

I hope that this response has been of service to you and if you have any additional question, please do not hesitate to contact us again.

Looking forward for a good cooperation, we remain

Kind regards

Dear Chris

Just a short note to yourself and Bruce regarding Rieger's performance in helping to make our 1997 Yellow Programme the success it has been. The reluctance I had to use your product has long since disappeared and the Rieger ink performed second to none, consistent performance and supply meeting standards set by myself and the Company.

Thanks once again and I hope we can continue our successful relationship in 1997.

Yours sincerely,

TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN

William Brooks & Co (Directory Printers) has done extensive trials using both Rieger Inks and A.I.M. Chemicals press room chemistry. Throughout the trials I have found the combination of Prisco N6 Fountain solution, 62C Blanket Wash and Rieger Ink to be extremely complementary to each other. It has given me the results which I have been trying to achieve on our high speed presses, which includes correct ink water balance, no emulsification, longer runs between blanket washes and the ability to properly control ink settings at high speed.

After the results that we have achieved through these trials and the professional way in which both the A.I.M. Group and Rieger Inks have conducted them, I have had no hesitation in signing a long term supply contract with the A.I.M. Group to supply William Brooks with press room chemistry and Rieger inks.

If I can be of any further assistance in this matter, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Yours faithfully

Daily News

April 12 1994

To whom it may concern

I started doing business with Rieger Printing Ink in 1976 when 1 was the production director at the Toronto Sun in Canada. We were having quality printing problem & and finally decided to give Rieger a chance to resolve those problems. It proved to be one or the best decisions of my career.

With Rieger's product the Sun won the "Best colour in North America" In 1978 and the “Best colour in the world” in 1995 Kodak awards at the ANPA. Many people have commented through the years on the crispness of the black and colour in our paper.

In 1991 I left the Sun Corporation to join the Daily News or Los Angeles. I was not satisfied with the printed quality or the paper, so I asked Rieger if they could deliver to me in Los Angeles their quality ink at a competitive price.

Rieger has been servicing us now since November 1991. We have not had any delivery problems, and in fact, by Rieger taking our waste ink for recycling, they have eliminated the potential for environmental problems.

California is probably the top state in environmental consciousness, and they arc delighted with our approach.

I would recommend Rieger Printing Ink to anyone wishing to do quality printing with professional, quality producing company. Rieger is a pleasure to deal with and their product has made my job much easier.

If you have any questions, feel free to call me at (818) 713-3203.

Sincerely

RE: RIEGER INK COMPANY LIMITED

To Whom It May Concern,

Rieger Inks has been the principle Ink supply source of North American Decorative Products Inc. for the past 15 years. Over this period we have increased the Rieger material content from 40% to 90% currently of our total annual purchase of Inks exceeding 1.7 million dollars.

Norwall's decision in moving towards single source supply has been product consistency and control to meet increasing demands for Statistical Process Controls in our operations.

In this respect we have found this supplier has consistently met our requirements.

SUBJECT: Compatibility of Blanket Wash from AIM Chemicals with KATEC Afterburner

DATE: October 7, 1991

CC: G.L. Brown, R.A. Carman

In regard to the compatibility of AIM Chemicals, "62C Safety Blanket Wash" with our KATEC pollution control unit, there should not be a problem. Typically, we are concerned with washes that may contain chlorine, however this particular blanket wash does not.

In the past, we have not seen a problem in using blanket washes with a similar chemical make up.
