Hostmann Steinberg - ROLLO-THERM

DESCRIPTION:  Rapid and very dynamic changes in web offset production technology demand highest quality standard of printing inks.

Paper web speeds of 15 m/s are ‘state of the art’.  In consequence thereof inks are subject to very high mechanical strain in the inking units.  The resulting higher temperatures and intensive dynamic ink/damping solution interaction can remain without negative effects only if printing ink technology keeps pace with these demands or better: if it is one step ahead of it.

The new web offset process inks, developed and produced by HUBER-GRUPPE according to the “Highly improved Technology” standard, are this step ahead.

The following main series are available for the respective fields of application:

              ROLLO-THERM 1000              for LWC Papers

              ROLLO-THERM 2000              for B stocks

              ROLLO-THERM 3000              for newsprint

For this new generation of ROLLO THERM process inks manufactured to the HIT technology, the special constituents of the formulae have been tailor made for the different production steps:

The binders have been formulated to ensure optimum pigment wetting, by the wetting medium and through critically monitored dispersion conditions, as well as the most favourable conditions for printing by using highly sophisticated printing ink resins.

For the printer the most obvious quality improvements of the new HIT technology process inks lie in the following features

Outstanding gloss characteristics and optimum colour strength effect

The inks maintain a stable viscosity over a wide temperature range.

A stable emulsification of damping solution guarantees uniform ink splitting

Elastic characteristics of the binder minimise misting.

Adaptation to more exacting demands is also achieved through faster drying of the printing inks on the most different paper grades.

The printing inks manufactured by the HIT technology are also particularly suitable for use with damping solutions permitting printing with reduced amounts of alcohol or even without alcohol.

HUBER-GRUPPE’S modern production technologies together with comprehensive standardised production controls (according to DIN EN ISO 9001 etc) guarantee a constantly good quality of the new ROLLO-THERM process inks for heatset web offset.

Special properties of the Rollo-Therm process inks.

Outstanding printing characteristics, even at peak speeds exceeding 15 m/s.

Plates run clean fast when using suitable damping solutions, through quick and restricted absorption of damping solution ensuring a stable ink/damping solution equilibrium.

High contrast printing

High colour intensity and transparency.

Very goods gloss, depending on the substrate.

Very good rub resistance.

Good flow characteristics, making these inks highly suitable for automatic ink supply systems, and excellent entrainment in the ink duct.

Applications

Rollo-Therm process inks run trouble-free on any heatset web offset press with any kind of damping unit design.

A variety of process inks series are available for various paper grades.

Further process series are available for special requirements.  For print jobs requiring maximum gloss: Rollo-Therm Brilliant, and for mat-coated papers and high demands on rub resistance: Rollo-Therm High Resistant.  Another category of products for heatset web offset are our new Eco-Therm inks formulated from mineral oil-free binders based on renewable raw materials.

These process ink series are of the same high printability standard as the Rollo-Therm process inks.  Separate technical information leaflets for these special series are available.

Printing Auxiliaries

If Rollo-Therm inks need to be adapted to special printing conditions in exceptional cases it is advisable to use the sundries supplied by companies of Huber-Gruppe which are adapted to the highly sophisticated binder system.
