'FLAMEX'
Flammability Neutraliser
Description:
We have named this new and totally unique method of neutralising
flammable liquid spills.....`Flamex'.
Flamex, formulated from a
sophisticated blend of biodegradable surfactants, will mix freely
with the contaminant, neutralise the spill and render it
`non-flammable', allowing it to be collected or hosed away.
Application:
Flamex has primarily been developed to treat spills of fuel or oil
and may be used neat, or diluted with water. Flamex will completely
mix with oils and flammable fluids to inhibit the flammability
potential of the spill. This makes it the ideal product for:
*ROAD SPILLS
*AIRPORT TARMAC SPILLS
*BASEMENT FUEL POINT OVERFLOWS
*INDUSTRY AT LARGE
*GARAGE APRON OVERFILLS
*CAR RACE TRACKS
METHOD:
STEP 1 DILUTE
Dilute Flamex concentrate with up to 4 parts water to form the
stable neutralising solution. To assist in emergency situations it
is advisable to have Flamex pre-mixed in plastic containers, or to
have a supply of `Flamex Fast' on hand. Flamex Fast is our
ready-to-use grade that is used straight from the drum.
STEP 2 APPLICATION
Apply Flamex to the total area of the spill, by pouring, either
manually or through tanker sprays, or if spray application is
desired, Flamex may be applied neat through a 6% foam branch to
achieve outstanding results.
STEP 3 AGITATION
Once applied, thoroughly agitated using either mechanical means such
as a broom or mechanical sweeper. Alternatively high pressure water,
such as a fire hose, is also suitable.
STEP 4 RINSING
Rinse with fresh water. Rinsing is often optional, if the spill is
not `ponding' it may not be necessary, as Flamex will thoroughly
emulsify the contaminant and will not phase out. Flamex is not
slippery under foot either.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Flamex mixes freely with the likes of petrol and will not phase out
or sit on top. A.F.F.F. foam is a highly active foam producing
product that is designed to blanket a spill. Flamex performs a
different function in that it mixes throughout the spill and should
the contaminant run off into drains or downhill, it will remain
treated and will not ignite. A.F.F.F. and Flamex are totally
compatible and compliment each other, particularly on larger areas.
They are often used together with the A.F.F.F. being applied first
and the Flamex following up in case `run off' should occur.
SOLVENTLESS DISPERSANT
Used as a solventless biodegradable dispersant, Flamex will destroy;
heavy oils, hydraulic oils, brake fluid, petrol and the like.
SUMMARY
Flamex is a low toxicity, biodegradable formulation specifically
designed for the neutralisation of flammable hydrocarbon fluids. It
may be applied or dispensed by a variety of means, some of these
include:
*FIRE EXTINGUISHER
*KNAPSACK
*BUCKET / BROOM
*BULK WATER-TANKER
*FOAM BRANCH
*VENTURI DISPENSER ETC.
STORAGE
Flamex will maintain total stability in storage even after mixing
with water, with extended storage being recommended in plastic drums
or carboys.
No special storage facility is required, and for this reason it is a
good idea to keep it near fuelling points, bunkers, solvent storage
areas, to render dangerous spills HARMLESS IMMEDIATELY and SAFELY.
