More information on FLAMEX
Listed below are some
of the various applications suitable for Flamex:
PETROLEUM REFINERIES
Flamex will attack all fractions of oil and grease and is currently
being used to by Petroleum Refineries to clean up spills of all
types.
Applications
include:
*
Treatment of fuel and oil
spills, including soil that has been soaked with contaminants;
*
Steam cleaning additive
for cleaning plant, equipment and transport vehicles.
NOTE: Flamex may not
effectively neutralise very volatile solvents such as Acetone, which
evaporates rapidly, and therefore often presents a flammable vapour
on top of the treated solution. It is however, a suitable method of
cleaning up residues of the same.
ELECTRICAL INDUSTRY
Flamex is power stations as a multi-functional cleaner that has the
ability to effectively treat spills, fast!
Flamex was initially sold into this
industry as the everyday product that would always be on hand should
an emergency arise.
*
Flamex destroys:
transformer and gearbox oil, and ‘crater’ grease;
*
Cleans up spills on land
or water;
NOTE: Flamex will still be
effective, though it has a shorter life in terms of stability, when
used as a dispersant in salt water.
*
Cleaning transformers &
equipment;
*
Cleaning showers to remove
mildew, oil and grease, body fats;
TRANSPORT TERMINALS
*
Fuel, oil and hydraulic fluid
spills;
*
Cleaning tarmac areas;
*
Vehicle cleaning, manually or
through a pressure wash system;
AIRPORT & AIR FORCE DEFENCE BASES
Flamex is used by the Federal Airports
Corporation, R.A.A.F., Airport Fire Departments and the tenants
themselves, such as Qantas. They currently use the product for
treatment of fuel and oil spills on the tarmac areas or in the hanger,
and for cleaning in the case of a crash.
COUNCIL & ROAD TRAFFIC
AUTHORITIES
Flamex is used by local authorities for cleaning up road spills of any
following contaminants: petrol, oil, transformer oil, brake fluid, wet
paint and resins.
The conventional method used by councils has
been to spread sand over the spill, necessitating them having to make a
second trip in most cases to remove the sand/contaminant mixture.
Flamex treats the problem instantly, in one visit, as well as
neutralising the effect of solvent attack on the bitumen.
FIRE BRIGADES & COUNTRY
FIRE AUTHORITIES
Flamex is used by Fire Authorities to treat spills that may pose a
threat in any of the following instances;
*
Fuel or oil covering the
roadway and presenting a slip hazard or an explosive potential,
particularly if raw petrol is running down a drain or gutter;
*
Spills of any other types;
INDUSTRY AT LARGE
Flamex destroys spills and slip hazards in the industrial environment
IMMEDIATELY!
RACETRACKS
Flamex is not slippery and may be used to treat spills in the ‘pits’ or
on the track, in the case of an accident. When treating petrol spills
it is not mandatory to rinse residues away as Flamex does not leave a
slippery residue.
An ideal method of dispensing Flamex in this
particular application is pre-diluted at 4:1 with water and applied
through a conventional extinguisher. This way it may be carried on the
Fire tender vehicle, or kept on hand in the pit area.
APPLICATIONS and DILUTION
RATES
Contaminant Method of
Application Dilution
Fuel
spills Knapsack spray,
fire 4:1 w/water
extinguisher,
bulk tanker (4 = water)
direct pour,
foam branch (1 = Flamex)
Hydraulic
Fluid as
above 10:1 w/w
Engine
Oil as
above 10:1 w/w
Heavy oil/grease
direct pour, extinguisher 2:1 w/w
Wet
resin/paint direct pour,
extinguisher 4:1 w/w
Degreasing brush on/hose
off 2:1 w/w
Pressure washing
pre-diluted then through 4:1 w/w
machine
Vehicle washing
bucket and broom 20:1 w/w
Transformers spray on, brush and
rinse 10:1 w/w
Shower
areas as
above 4:1 w/w
NOTE:
These dilution rates are suggested ratios
only and may be varied accordingly.
If a ‘foam branch’ is used on fuel spills as a method of application,
plenty of Flamex foam must be applied to the spill to ensure that a
ratio of 10:1 w/w is achieved.
